Mecha BREAK: How to Reroll a Perfect Mod with Mod Tuning

Select one Orange Mod affix, gather General and matching Function Components, compare two alternatives and account for permanent slot locking and non-tradability.

PC

Open Mod Research and choose a Perfect Mod

Open Striker Bay, then Mods and Mod Research from the home screen. The developer’s September 2026 explanation places both tuning and dismantling under Mod Research. [1]

Only Perfect, or Orange, Mods qualify for tuning. The system is not described as a way to reroll every quality of mod in the inventory. [1]

Steps

  1. Open Striker Bay → Mods → Mod Research and select a Perfect/Orange Mod. [1]

Gather the components for one tuning attempt

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

One attempt consumes 20 General Mod Components, which come from dismantling mods of various qualities. That component amount stays fixed as the number of attempts increases. [1]

The attempt also needs one matching Specialized Function Component, obtained by dismantling an Orange Mod of the corresponding type. [1]

Budget the currency separately: Credit cost increases with repeated tuning, and later attempts additionally require Corite. The developer does not give one universal fixed Credit price. [1]

Steps

  1. Dismantle unneeded mods for General Mod Components, accounting for the Credit cost of dismantling. [1]
  2. Dismantle an appropriate Orange Mod when the matching Function Component is needed. [1]

Choose the one affix slot carefully

Choose one of the selected mod’s three affixes as the target. [1]

This commits the mod’s one tunable slot. The other two slots become permanently unavailable for tuning, so subsequent attempts continue working on the chosen affix rather than moving through all three slots. [1]

Steps

  1. Select the affix slot that you want this mod to keep using for tuning. [1]

Generate alternatives and select the result

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

Start Tuning generates two alternatives for the selected affix. [1]

Choose between the original affix and those two alternatives to complete the attempt. Keeping the original is one of the developer’s listed choices. [1]

Tuning preserves the affix’s positive or negative polarity. [1]

Alternatives also stay within the mod’s type; this does not turn one mod category into another. [1]

Steps

  1. Choose Start Tuning to generate the two alternatives. [1]
  2. Select the original affix or one of the two alternatives to finish. [1]

Account for the inventory and trading consequences

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

A completed tuning marks the item in the inventory and makes that mod non-tradable. [1]

Further attempts may reroll the same selected affix without an attempt-count limit, subject to the component and increasing currency costs already described. [1]
