How to Find and Master Sprites in Fortnite Override

Start with the Override collection

Override introduces a new generation of Sprites, while the previous season’s collection is represented in the Sprite Garden. For this guide, work with the companions found in the Override season. Epic’s updated launch notes also say Sprites were removed from Ranked Battle Royale on August 28 while their place in that loot pool was being evaluated. [1]

Find a Cheat Code and release a Sprite

Steps

1. Look around the Island’s points of interest and walls for a Cheat Code. Interact with the code and enter its sequence to release a Sprite ally. The Cheat Code Locator Gizmo can locate the nearest code if you have one available. [1]
2. For variant hunting, pay attention to the code’s rarity. Following v42.20, blue and purple codes can contain Sprites of any rarity. Purple codes have better variant and higher-rarity chances, while orange codes guarantee a variant, with an emphasis on higher-rarity Sprites. A blue code therefore does not restrict its result to a blue Sprite. [2]

Extract before treating the Sprite as collected

Epic’s extraction rules require finding a Sprite, reaching an Extraction Site and defending the pickup while its timer runs. Successful extraction banks it for future matches; being eliminated first leaves it on the battlefield. A Portable Extractor can extract your equipped Sprite from elsewhere on the Island. [3]

Level the companion, then extract it at maximum level

The core progression rules award Sprite levels through exploration, eliminations and extraction. Extracting a Sprite at its maximum level is the action that masters it. Epic recommends working toward that level over multiple runs. Collecting a Sprite and mastering it are separate milestones. [3]

Check for exceptions on the particular companion. Override’s Klombo Sprite levels through Health or Shield consumables, while the Crown Sprite levels through match wins. From v42.10 onward, extracting a duplicate also grants Sprite XP; once that copy has reached its maximum, extracting it completes the mastery step. [1] [4]

Track mastery rewards and the Pixel Sprite Trainer

Mastery has a practical benefit beyond the collection counter: v42.10 halves the Sprite Dust cost of resummoning a mastered companion and adds a mastery reward track. This gives you a reason to finish a familiar Sprite rather than treating every duplicate extraction as wasted progress. [4]

The Pixel Sprite Trainer Back Bling added in v42.20 requires extracting 30 Sprites. Follow that named extraction objective rather than assuming the reward requires 30 mastered companions. The same update adds more mastery-track pages, including the Pixel Polli Outfit. These are seasonal objectives, so check the in-game track before using an older season’s reward list. [2]
