FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH version 1.005 adds Streamlined Progression, an optional set of combat and exploration enhancements. Square Enix says its individual options can be toggled at any time through the in-game options menu. It can be used for a first playthrough or a replay; it is not described as requiring an already finished save. [1]

Choose the combat help rather than assuming all options are compulsory

The documented examples include unlimited HP and MP at all times and 9,999 damage dealt to enemies during battles and minigames. These are examples of the enhancement options, and the developer says the feature can be tailored to the player’s preferences. Because each option can be toggled individually, you can choose the level of assistance you want instead of treating the feature as one permanent all-or-nothing change. [1]

Keep the maximum-item option’s exceptions in mind

Another listed enhancement gives the maximum number of each item, with exceptions. Distinguish these toggles from New Game – Head Start

New Game – Head Start is a separate 1.005 addition: it starts characters at level 65, with a level cap of 70, and gives several enhanced materia. Streamlined Progression instead supplies the configurable options described above. Pick the feature that fits your intent rather than expecting an HP toggle to be the same operation as starting a level-65 new game. [1]
