Bethesda’s Shelter guide identifies Home Expansion as the quest to pick up for unlocking C.A.M.P. Shelters. Shelters are instanced underground interiors separate from the main C.A.M.P. The procedure below begins once you have claimed a Shelter; it does not promise that every Shelter type is a free reward. [1]

Steps

  1. Pick up Home Expansion as the documented starting quest for C.A.M.P. Shelters. [1]

Build the entrance to a claimed Shelter

Steps

  1. Open the C.A.M.P. Build Menu and scroll to Shelters to find your available Shelter Entrances. [1]
  2. Select the entrance you want to build, then head inside. Your C.A.M.P. can hold one of each owned Shelter type and multiple entrances to the same Shelter. [1]

Build with the Shelter’s own budget

Each Shelter has its own budget, separate from the main C.A.M.P. and other Shelters. Interiors save while you build and remain saved when the C.A.M.P. relocates or an entrance moves or is destroyed. This preservation concerns the interior layout described by Bethesda. [1]

Steps

  1. Use Toggle Snapping off for free placement, or turn it on to snap objects to one another or the build grid. [1]
