Collect cleared rocks and vegetation, place them through Environmental Modification and use Restoration Mode for modified terrain.

Use the Environmental Modification additions

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

Version 0.10.35.29057 adds vegetation transplantation and a separate restoration mode to Environmental Modification. The first reuses cleared natural objects; the second returns modified terrain to its original state. Choose the tool according to whether you want to decorate a factory gap or restore the ground itself. [1]

Restoration Mode is specifically described as reverting modified terrain. The announcement does not say it recreates demolished production buildings or acts as a complete save rollback. [1]

Collect vegetation and rocks while clearing space

After the update, cleared rocks and vegetation are automatically collected and stored. Building, production-line construction and foundation paving are named clearing actions, so landscaping material can come from the same work used to prepare a factory site. [1]

Steps

  1. Collect vegetation through manual harvesting or foundation paving. [1]
  2. When clearing an area for construction, keep the resulting stored rocks and vegetation for later landscaping. [1]

Place the collected objects on a planetary surface

Vegetation Transplantation places your collected rocks and plants on a planetary surface, including another planet. It is intended for arranging the stored objects; the source does not promise an unlimited supply that ignores what was collected. [1]

Steps

  1. Open Environmental Modification’s Vegetation Transplantation tool and place the collected vegetation or rocks where you want the landscape decoration. [1]
  2. Use open gaps between production lines or factory edges when your goal is decoration around existing industry. [1]

Use Restoration Mode when the terrain itself is the target

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

For an area whose terrain was modified, use Restoration Mode instead of merely planting decorative vegetation on top. The developer describes restoration as returning those modified areas to their original terrain. [1]

Steps

  1. Choose Restoration Mode in Environmental Modification for the modified terrain you want to revert. [1]
  2. Apply the terrain-restoration operation to the area you intend to return to its original state. [1]

Keep this update separate from the forthcoming Creation System

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

The same announcement discusses the vehicle-and-space-station Creation System as continuing development. Landscape tools being released does not establish that those separate future systems are already available. Use the current Environmental Modification features for this task. [1]
