Dicey Dungeons: How to Unlock Bonus Rounds and Enter Backstage

Progress beyond the first episodes, identify each character’s Bonus Round, unlock the final Backstage icon, and distinguish that finale from the Bonus Episodes menu.

PC

Play an episode with each of the first five characters

Platforms: PCEvidence checked

At the start, each character has only their first episode available. To open the next set, play one episode with each of the first five characters. The publisher-endorsed episode list says this unlocks the first three episodes for each fighter; completing more episodes then opens further episodes, up to six. If you have repeatedly played only one character, use the first-five-character requirement as your next progression check. The episode list describes playing an episode for that initial gate, rather than requiring a first win with every character. [1]

Steps

  1. Play one episode with each of the first five characters, then return to their episode selections. [1]

Treat Bonus Round as episode six for every contestant

Platforms: PCEvidence checked

Bonus Round is the sixth item in each contestant’s standard episode list, following Parallel Universe. It is an episode name within the normal character progression. Work through the newly available episodes toward that sixth entry for each fighter. To open Backstage, the required target is completing all six Bonus Round episodes, so clearing only the Warrior’s Bonus Round does not meet the listed final-stage requirement. The same episode list gives the complete final unlock condition. [1]

Win all six Bonus Rounds and choose the seventh icon

Platforms: PCEvidence checked

Once you have beaten episode six with every character, select the final, seventh icon in the character-select menu to enter Backstage. You can choose any of the six playable characters for this final stage. This is the finale access route: the separate Bonus Episodes button is not the seventh character-select icon. [2]

Steps

  1. After winning all six Bonus Rounds, select the final seventh icon on character select. [2]

Recruit enemies and protect the main dice in Backstage

Platforms: PCEvidence checked

In Backstage, defeated enemies join the party. You may switch fighters once each turn, but a party member reduced to zero health is knocked out for the remainder of the episode. If your main dice is knocked out, the run ends. Use the ability to change fighters while protecting that main character; recruiting a large party does not remove the main-dice loss condition. Switching and defeat have these separate limits. [2]

Use Bonus Episodes for Reunion, not the Backstage unlock gate

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

Reunion is separate free content reached by clicking Bonus Episodes on the title screen. It contains six new episodes, one for each contestant. If your aim is to try those additional character designs, use that menu. If your aim is to reach the base-game finale, follow the six standard Bonus Rounds and seventh-icon route above; the similar menu names refer to different parts of the game. Reunion supplies a new episode for every contestant. [3]
