Start with the item type and intended preset
The Armory browses the item collection by type, preset and common affixes. Start with the type of equipment you are looking for, then use the relevant preset to narrow the collection toward the build’s purpose. This is the published browsing system for finding equipment in the collection, rather than a promise that a chosen filter will create a missing item or change its rolled affixes. [1]
Steps
- Browse the Armory by item type and preset before choosing among the matching affixes. [1]
Select the effect you want and use value-based sorting
The Procedural Horde update makes the Armory sort items by the value of the currently selected affixes. Select the effect you are trying to improve so the ordering reflects that criterion. A high position in this list is about the selected affix values; it does not establish that an item is best for every build. Patch 0.8.5 further improves sorting within a preset tab to surface relevant items first. Preset-tab relevance received a later improvement. [2] [3]
Steps
- Select the relevant affix and compare the collection using its value-based ordering. [2]
Use the Defensive preset for the documented Heal on Level example
Patch 0.8.5 adds more featured affixes to presets, including Heal on Level in the Defensive preset. If that is the effect you are looking for, use the named preset and affix rather than scanning every equipment category without a criterion. The example documents where that featured effect belongs; it does not claim that every item shown by the preset has identical healing strength. [3]
Filter by item tier before comparing the final choices
Use the item-tier filter added in 0.8.5 to narrow the comparison further. The earlier quality-of-life patch also adds an item Autocompare option. Use those tools when the collection includes several tiers or possible replacements: the tier filter limits the candidates, while Autocompare provides the documented item-comparison option. Neither feature changes an item’s tier by itself. Autocompare is an item option in the earlier update. [3] [1]
Move the chosen item from the Armory to the character inventory
Once you have found the item, use the Armory-to-character-inventory transfer introduced in 0.8.5. The same quality-of-life section says Transfer to stash ignores lore books, so that action does not send lore books along with the equipment being organized. Keep the final transfer separate from the filtering process: browsing the collection and sorting a preset are ways to choose an item before moving it. Lore books are excluded from Transfer to stash.
