Dead by Daylight: How to Use Void Portals and Energy in Haunted 2026

Understand the 2026 Haunted by Daylight portals

The October patch describes Haunted by Daylight starting October 13. The old Void Tile is inaccessible in this version of the event; Void Portals instead connect to paired portals within trials. Opening a Void Rift creates a new portal pair that remains open for the rest of that trial. [1]

Spend gathered Void Energy directly

Killers and Survivors gather Void Energy and spend it on event abilities. This event removes the old need to craft inside the Void: an ability can be used once enough energy is gathered. Survivors can obtain a large amount through portals, with the risk of the Killer teleporting directly to that portal. [1]

1. Once you have enough Void Energy, use an event ability without returning to a Void crafting area. [1]

Choose the ability appropriate to your role

Survivors start with Void Crystals, used as Smoke Bombs or placed on a Generator for remote repairs. Killers can launch Void Haunts and use Empowered Breaks for faster kicks.
