Enable retreat only after checking its cost
The Dam supplies run modifiers for the next Confession expedition. Enable Retreat Button becomes available after the prologue/tutorial. Its published retreat cost is +2 Loathing and +2 Stress to every party member. Treat enabling the option and deciding to use it in a fight as separate choices: access to an exit still carries the stated expedition and party penalties. [1]
Steps
- After the prologue/tutorial, enable Retreat Button in the Dam if that option is wanted for the next Confession run; account for +2 Loathing and +2 Stress to all heroes when retreating. [1]
Complete Act 5 before enabling Hoarder sales in Confessions
Enable Selling to Hoarders is locked behind completing Act 5. Once enabled, it allows selling items to the Hoarder for a small amount of relics/gold. If that Confessions option is still locked, the stated prerequisite is Act 5 completion. The developer does not describe it as a full-value refund, so plan around a small return when deciding which items to retain until a Hoarder. [1]
Steps
- After completing Act 5, enable Selling to Hoarders for the next Confession expedition if item selling is desired. [1]
A Mountain at every inn still requires a trophy
Enable Mountain at all Inns also requires completing Act 5. It allows approaching the Mountain from any inn reached, but the release note explicitly retains the trophy requirement for entry. Enabling the modifier changes where the approach is available; it does not supply a trophy or remove that requirement. [1]
Increase Battle Modifier rolls deliberately
The Increased Chance of Battle Modifiers option attempts a Battle Modifier roll at every fight where possible. Normally the chance increases in later regions of a Confession. The option increases the opportunities for those modifiers; the wording does not guarantee that every encounter receives one. [1]
Unlock the additional Part 2 options separately
Steadfast Steward Part 2 adds extended versions of Confessions 1 and 2: beat the corresponding Confession before its extended version unlocks. It also adds an option for Death to appear without Flagellant in the party, requiring both a defeat of Death and completion of Act 5. Check these separate prerequisites rather than assuming that unlocking Hoarder selling unlocks every other Dam setting. [2]
