Use the documented Download List, missing-mod Download All control and device-storage display when preparing a custom-map match.

Choose the original Contractors custom-map workflow

The original Contractors supports downloading custom maps in the game. Its v0.91 announcement describes map mods as the first phase of broader mod support. These instructions use Caveman’s documented download controls, rather than instructions for Contractors Showdown. [1]

Manage the downloads required by your match

Steps

  1. Use Download List in the mod-management interface to manage the files you are downloading. Caveman documents separate tags for GameMode, Loadout and Maps, which help distinguish the content categories. [2]
  2. When joining a modded game that is missing required mods, use its Download All control. This is the missing-content action identified in the developer’s interface notes. [2]
  3. Check device-storage usage in the mod UI while managing the downloads. The v0.91 notes also say mods automatically download again after a download error, so watch the download’s state before repeatedly requesting another copy. [1]

Keep map downloads and mod creation separate

Downloading a custom map is a player action inside the game; uploading one uses the separate mod kit. The publisher’s map-support announcement distinguishes those two workflows. A missing map does not require you to install the creator’s development tools just to follow the download procedure. [1]
