Captain of Industry: How to Build Modular Road Ramps

Use Update 4.2’s place-and-drag ramps, choose height 1 or 2 and account for which vehicles can pass above and below.

Use the modular ramp tool

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

Update 4.2 introduces modular road ramps through a new place-and-drag tool. The developer distinguishes them from the original ramps, which the update makes obsolete. [1]

When following this method, use the modular ramp system described in the released update rather than expecting the original ramp system to have the new behavior. [1]

Steps

  1. Use the modular road-ramp place-and-drag tool to lay out the ramp. [1]

Choose the ramp length and supported height

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

The modular ramp can have any length, with height set to 1 or 2. Those are the supported heights named in the announcement. Choose the ramp dimensions around the crossing you intend to make; the note does not establish an unlimited height setting. [1]

Steps

  1. Set the desired ramp length and choose height 1 or 2. [1]

Separate traffic over the ramp from traffic below it

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

All vehicles can pass over modular ramps, while small vehicles can pass underneath. The below-ramp statement is restricted to small vehicles. A route intended for larger vehicles underneath is not supported by this description. [1]

Account for vehicle bans during construction

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

The same update makes construction and deconstruction obey the target zone’s vehicle bans. A ramp layout and a zone’s vehicle restrictions are separate constraints: placing the ramp does not remove the target zone’s bans. [1]

Check the optional drag-placement accessibility setting

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

The optional Hold key to drag-place setting changes when drag placement starts. It is off by default; when enabled, drag placement begins only while the grid-fill key is held. Keep that setting in mind if drag behavior differs from the default. [1]
