Sign into mod.io before entering the game’s code
The game’s five-digit linking code belongs on mod.io’s connect page. First sign into the mod.io website with the account that will be linked to this BONELAB installation. Then open https://mod.io/connect and enter the code displayed inside the game. The service’s BONELAB-specific support article supplies this direction of linking: the game displays the code and the website receives it. [1]
Steps
- Sign into mod.io, open https://mod.io/connect, and enter the code currently displayed in BONELAB. [1]
Download subscribed mods that match the supported SDK generation
Patch 4 adds account linking and direct downloading of subscribed mod.io mods. Its compatibility note matters: automatic downloading is limited to that MarrowSDK version and above. Older mods can be installed manually, but the developer warns that they are likely to have problems if they have not been updated. Use the supported subscription downloader for compatible content; a successful account link does not establish that every old mod is compatible. [2]
Steps
- After linking, use the in-game subscription downloader for compatible subscribed mods. [2]
Open the installed content through the matching menu
Once a mod is installed, the official SDK instructions distinguish its content type. Enter the Hub; after completing the game, the Mods menu can lead to a level. Otherwise the documented in-game menu is opened by holding B, or Y on Index. A custom level is selected under Levels, an avatar under Avatars, and a spawnable item through the Utility Gun’s menus. Downloading an avatar is therefore not the same as adding a new level entry. [3]
For a locally built PC mod, use the PC Mods folder
If testing a mod built with the official SDK, the PC pallet inspector offers Install for BONELAB on PC after a PC build is detected. The documented manual alternative copies the packed AuthorName.PalletName folder into C:\Users\[username]\AppData\LocalLow\Stress Level Zero\BONELAB\MODS. This is the Windows PC path; the Android Quest folder in the same documentation is a different platform and should not be substituted for a Steam installation. [3]
