Identify the stake rule before evaluating the shop
The released 1.0.1f balance patch replaces the old Orange Stake pack-price increase with Perishable Jokers. Gold Stake replaces its old one-card hand-size penalty with Rental Jokers. Apply the sticker rules to the run being played rather than budgeting for the removed penalties. The update is functionally identical to experimental 1.0.1e, but these notes announce the live release for everyone. [1]
Gold Stake’s removed penalty is also named. [1]
Treat a Perishable Joker as a temporary purchase
Under the Orange Stake change, Jokers have a 30 percent chance of receiving a Perishable sticker. That sticker disables the Joker after five rounds. Check its sticker before buying a card whose value depends on remaining active much later in the run. This is a finite-use source of scoring or utility, so weigh what it can provide during its active rounds. [1]
Steps
- Inspect the Perishable sticker and plan the purchase around its five active rounds. [1]
Budget beyond the one-dollar purchase price
Gold Stake’s Rental sticker also has a 30 percent chance to appear. A Rental Joker costs one dollar upfront and three dollars every round. Its low shop price therefore understates the ongoing cost. When comparing two available cards, account for the repeated charge for as long as the Rental remains part of the plan, instead of spending the remaining cash as though the one-dollar purchase were the entire commitment. [1]
Steps
- Allow for the three-dollar round charge as well as the one-dollar upfront price before choosing a Rental Joker. [1]
Read every sticker on the offered Joker
Rental can stack with Eternal and Perishable. Inspect the whole card rather than treating Rental as its only condition. The patch moves Eternal, Rental and Perishable stickers to the upper-left corner, providing a consistent inspection point. It also allows Eternal on Jokers from Buffoon Packs, so a pack opening needs the same attention to stickers as an ordinary shop offer. [1]
The sticker location is part of the update. [1]
Buffoon Pack Jokers can receive Eternal too. [1]
Steps
- Check the upper-left corner for all applicable stickers, including when opening a Buffoon Pack. [1]
Distinguish sticker restrictions from ordinary Joker availability
Some non-retroactive scaling Jokers are incompatible with Perishable. The release names examples including Ceremonial Dagger, Hologram, Constellation, Lucky Cat and Wee Joker. Their exception does not remove Perishable from the entire Joker pool. Read the actual offered card, then combine its scoring effect, any recurring charge and any five-round limit into the purchase decision. [1]
