Assetto Corsa: How to Make a Mandatory Pit Stop Count

Use the newer pit-entry timing rule, account for stops outside the mandatory window and choose the appropriate PC pit-stop interface.

Check the race’s mandatory pit window

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

Assetto Corsa’s multiplayer race settings can include a mandatory pit window. When racing under that rule, identify the configured window before planning the stop. The server administrator chooses its timing; the announcement does not give one universal window that applies to every server. [1]

Version 1.14 adds a Mandatory Pit warning at the race start, providing a cue that the race uses the rule. [2]

Steps

  1. Check the race-start Mandatory Pit warning when preparing the stop. [2]

Use pit entry timing under the newer rule

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

Version 1.14 changes mandatory-pit validation to pit-entry timing, explicitly replacing the older system. The earlier 1.13 announcement described stopping at the pit box within the window; do not apply that superseded timing description when reading the newer rule. Plan to enter the pits during the configured window. [2]

Steps

  1. Enter the pits during the race’s mandatory window so the stop uses the documented pit-entry timing rule. [2]

Do not substitute an extra stop outside the window

Extra stops are permitted before and after the mandatory window, but an outside-window stop does not replace the required stop. Keep that distinction when deciding whether an early repair stop also completes the race’s mandatory requirement. [1]

Use the pit-stop interface for the selected controller

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

The 1.13 notes add pit-stop arrows for a DirectInput directional pad, intended for binding to a wheel’s D-pad. [1]

The later 1.14 notes replace the pit-stop app with mouse pit-stop controls when the controller is keyboard, and correct mouse pit stops with Mouse Steering enabled. Choose the interface described for your PC control setup rather than assuming the wheel and keyboard interfaces are identical. [2]

Respect the pit app’s tyre-pressure limit

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

The 1.14 pit app limits a new tyre pressure to within four psi of the current pressure because of the minimum-height rule. Account for that limit when preparing the service request; it is a limit on the pressure change, not a fixed target pressure for all cars. [2]
