ARK: Survival Ascended: How to Claim and Raise a Wild Baby

Meet the parent condition, claim the baby and continue its food, care and imprinting requirements.

Find a wild baby with its parent

Platforms: PCEvidence checked

Survival Ascended creatures can appear in the wild as babies following a parent. The official community wiki distinguishes them from babies bred by your tribe. A knocked-out parent alone does not satisfy the claiming condition described there. [1]

Meet the claiming condition, then care for the baby

Platforms: PCEvidence checked

Steps

  1. Tame the parent or claim the baby after the parent has died. The wiki says any player may claim it once either condition is met. [1]
  2. Be ready to approach a fleeing baby after that change: it flees when the parent dies and also when the parent is tamed by a tribe. [1]
  3. After claiming, continue providing food and care and meet its imprinting needs until adulthood. Claiming does not make the baby an adult tame. [1]

Understand an ordinary claim’s level result

Platforms: PCEvidence checked

An ordinary player claim preserves the baby’s wild level without extra levels. The wiki documents Gigantoraptor claiming as a separate system that can add levels, so these basic claiming steps do not promise a perfect-tame level bonus. [1]
