The Season 6 documentation gives each player six Mastery Points by default. Character-level rewards add three at level nineteen and another three at level twenty-six, for twelve once both rewards are obtained. Check the available points against those rewards before choosing the allocation; the source does not describe buying an unlimited pool of points. [1]

Choose a mix of the three paths

Choose Masteries from Combat, Survival and Support according to the intended play style. The system permits mixing paths, so choosing one does not require spending the whole budget in that path. This guide explains allocation rules without claiming that one combination is the strongest for every map or squad. [1]

Spend within the upgrade and simultaneous-Mastery limits

Spend the points on upgrades, up to level three for each Mastery and up to six upgraded Masteries at the same time. Distinguish those two limits: the level-three cap is per Mastery, while six is the simultaneous-Mastery limit. A point budget and an upgrade cap are separate constraints on the allocation. [1]

Use the upgrades in supported modes

An upgraded Mastery becomes active automatically, with no separate equipment step. The stated exceptions are Arena Mode and Covert Ops, where the Masteries do not apply. Keep that scope in mind before expecting an allocation to affect a particular mode. [1]

Reset when you want to rebuild the allocation

Reset all upgraded Masteries when you want to change the build. The documented reset has no time requirement or cooldown and refunds all spent Mastery Points, allowing a different mix within the same budget. [1]
