American Truck Simulator: How to Complete Double Trailer Handling and Unlock Frankie

Use the released Double Trailer Handling module

American Truck Simulator’s 1.58 release introduces Double Trailer Handling as a Driving Academy module. It teaches driving, manoeuvring and reversing a tractor with two trailers; the reward is earned through the Academy scenarios, rather than through an ordinary freight delivery. [1]

The developer describes the ATS training combination as a B-Double. Euro Truck Simulator 2 uses a Euro Combi in its tailored scenarios, so do not assume an ETS2 demonstration reproduces every ATS challenge exactly. [2]

Use single-trailer practice as preparation

SCS describes the doubles module as approachable after Truck Driving Basics, building on single-trailer skills. Completing that earlier practice is useful preparation before trying a long combination in a tighter manoeuvre. [2]

The developer does not require having played Truck Driving Proficiency beforehand. It may provide a head start, but the preview does not make it a compulsory gate for beginning doubles practice. [2]

Follow the three-stage progression

Practise both aligned and unaligned starts

Some scenario pairs repeat a reversing manoeuvre with a different starting setup. Repeating the same destination from another alignment is intentional training, not a duplicate scenario error. [2]

The first setup has straightened trailers; the later one begins with the truck and trailers out of alignment. Correcting that starting shape is part of the challenge, so do not apply the previous steering sequence without reconsidering the initial position. [2]
