Abiotic Factor: How to Grow Ammunition in a Digital Garden Plot

Craft the required Cartridges, use a powered Digital Garden Plot, choose the correct ammunition type and understand fertilizer and plant-recovery options.

PC

Use the Digital Garden Plot for cartridge-based growing

Platforms: PCEvidence checked

The Digital Garden Plot grows items through custom Cartridges. This is a different role from simply planting an ordinary food seed in a conventional plot. The Anniversary update introduces the system for growing digital and physical objects. [1]

Craft the ammunition Cartridge at the Crafting Bench

Platforms: PCEvidence checked

Cartridge recipes are available at the Crafting Bench. [1]

Conventional firearm bullets use a specialized Cartridge for each ammunition type. Choose the Cartridge for the bullet type you need; the source does not say one universal Cartridge grows every ammunition type. [1]

Steps

  1. Use the Crafting Bench recipe to make the required Cartridge. [1]
  2. Select the specialized Cartridge corresponding to the conventional firearm ammunition you want to grow. [1]

Put the Cartridge into a powered plot

Platforms: PCEvidence checked

The Cartridge must be plugged into a powered Digital Garden Plot. Power is an explicit condition in the developer’s instruction. A crafted Cartridge sitting in inventory is not the same as a Cartridge operating in the powered plot. [1]

Steps

  1. Plug the selected Cartridge into the powered Digital Garden Plot. [1]

Use the supported fertilizer items

Platforms: PCEvidence checked

Black Gunk and Reservoir Growth are supported fertilizers for a Digital Garden Plot. The patch note confirms their use but does not provide an exact fertilizer-to-bullet yield or growth-time chart. Do not substitute an unverified claim that fertilizer guarantees a particular quantity. [1]

Steps

  1. If applying fertilizer, use Black Gunk or Reservoir Growth as supported by the update. [1]

Keep other Cartridge outputs separate

Platforms: PCEvidence checked

Royal Peppers use their own Royal Pepper Cartridge. [1]

A tamed IS-0307-A also has a special Cartridge. These examples show why the chosen Cartridge matters; they do not turn every ordinary seed into an ammunition recipe. [1]

Recover planted items through the documented gardening tool

Platforms: PCUpdated Evidence checked

For ordinary gardening recovery, the update adds a Garden Trowel that digs up plants and returns seeds. This is a separate plant-recovery function; the source does not describe it as a way to duplicate ammunition Cartridges. [1]

If clients instead see non-interactable ghost seeds after a rehost, hotfix 1.4.0.28206 contains that specific correction. Distinguish that seed bug from the powered-plot and Cartridge requirements. [2]
