As Apex Legends enters its 30th season, developer Respawn Entertainment is rolling out a massive overhaul aimed at getting players into fights much faster. By stripping away clutter from the map, the studio wants to cut down the time spent hunting for gear and organizing inventories.

Quick Facts

  • Game: Apex Legends
  • Developer: Respawn Entertainment
  • Season: Season 30
  • Key Feature: Looting system overhaul and new Corrupted Attachments

Streamlining the Loot Pool

The opening moments of an Apex Legends match traditionally involve scrambling for basic weapons and frantically searching through bins. To speed up the early game, Respawn is completely removing extended and weapon supply bins, which previously served as special benefits for the Support and Assault classes.

Additionally, targetable wildlife on maps like Storm Point—such as spiders and prowlers—will no longer drop loot when eliminated. Respawn is also altering how arsenals and standard loot bins reset over the course of a match.

“By removing unnecessary clutter like specific bin types and wildlife loot, we’re clearing the path so you can spend less time organizing and more time engaging,” said Casey O’Brien, a Game Designer at Respawn.

Introducing Corrupted Attachments

Alongside the broader pacing changes, weapon attachments are receiving a specific tactical rework via Corrupted Attachments. Unlike older attachments that relied on vague descriptions, these new items display exact statistics for both their positive and negative effects.

For example, a Corrupted Stock for the Triple Take might reduce a weapon's magazine size by one—forcing more frequent reloads—while simultaneously boosting handling, reload speed, and rate of fire. Players can equip only one Corrupted Attachment per weapon, preventing completely unbalanced custom builds.

Because these items are rarer and tend to appear more frequently as a match progresses, players will have to weigh strict trade-offs during the end game rather than simply chasing standard rarity colors. These updates arrive alongside major character buffs for Legends like Bloodhound, Loba, and Rampart as the battle royale continues to accelerate its overall match pacing.
