NCSoft has deployed Throne and Liberty update 4.0.0, bringing a significant expansion to the game's progression and world. The update, which requires an 8-hour maintenance window starting June 24th at 10:30 p.m. PT, introduces the frozen wasteland of Nix, a level cap increase, and a complete rework of how players upgrade their gear.
Level Cap and Stat Changes
Players can now push their characters to level 60, up from the previous cap of 55. This expansion grants additional stat points per level, along with five skill specialization points at both levels 56 and 60. Furthermore, the maximum stat cap for Strength, Dexterity, Wisdom, Perception, and Fortitude has been raised from 99 to 130, with new milestone bonuses unlocked at 100 and 120.
Weapon mastery has also seen an increase, with the overall cap moving from 1800 to 2200, and individual weapon masteries now reaching 220. Two new overall mastery skills, Bloodlust and Piercing Spear, have been added to reward high-level progression.
The New Nix Region and Equipment Overhaul
The Nix region introduces unique navigation tools, including the Auroral Path for fast movement and the Aethersuit, a flight morph exclusive to the area. Players can tackle the new Remnants of Nix 4-player content, where they must collect and purify "Redfrost" items using the new Armillary Sphere system. Note that these items are lost if a player leaves the region or logs out, making the purification process a high-stakes activity.
Perhaps the most sweeping change is the complete removal of the traditional enhancement, transfer, and sync systems. These have been replaced by a unified Item Level system. Players can now use "Inheritance" to transfer item levels between gear pieces, preserving traits and resonance while using Inheritance Stones to manage potential skills.
Combat and Weapon Adjustments
Update 4.0.0 adds the new Gauntlets weapon class, which features stance switching and powerful combos. It is currently available as a drop in the "Star's Call: Sword of Judgment" raid. Alongside the new weapon, every existing weapon class has received a new passive skill to diversify playstyles, such as the Wand's "Curse Resonance" and the Greatsword's "Suppressing Strike."
Armor progression has also been expanded with the addition of Armor Runes. These can be slotted into gear via the Rune Book to provide bonuses to stats like boss damage, damage reduction, and healing power. Additionally, the Chaos Rune bag capacity has been increased, now allowing for up to 300 slots.
For those looking for a challenge, two new Epic co-op dungeons—Frostbreath Cave and Stone Grave Cradle—have been added, both requiring a minimum Combat Power of 7,000.
