After a quiet spring, Highwire Games is moving into the next operational phase for Six Days in Fallujah. The developer has officially opened sign-ups for a community playtest of the upcoming Summer 2026 update, inviting players to provide direct feedback as the team works to move the tactical shooter out of early access.
Those interested in accessing the build early can apply via the official developer sign-up form. Applicants are asked to detail their experience with the game, their preferences for similar tactical titles, and their current PC hardware specifications.
What is Included in the Summer 2026 Update?
While Highwire Games has kept the full patch notes under wraps, the update is shaping up to be a significant mechanical shift. The standout feature is a revamped progression system, which aims to introduce unlockable weapons and improved loadout customization. This is a deliberate push to bring the game's replayability closer to titles like Ready or Not, allowing players to tailor their gear more effectively for the game's procedurally generated missions.
According to development diaries, the expanded arsenal is expected to include:
- M4A1 carbine
- M14 battle rifle (marksman configuration)
- M240B machine gun
- Mossberg 590A1 shotgun
- Glock 19 pistol
In addition to these new firearms, the update will introduce a variety of new attachments to enhance existing weapon customization. Notably, this will be the first major content release for the game following the passing of lead game designer Jeremy Faucomprez earlier this year. The patch is expected to feature the final level designed by Faucomprez.
The Status of the Console Release
The push for a summer update follows a period of frustration within the community regarding the game’s transition to consoles. Since Six Days in Fallujah launched into early access on Steam in 2023, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S ports have been a primary point of discussion.
While many players hoped for a 2025 release, that window passed without an update. A spokesperson for the game confirmed as recently as two days ago that console versions are still planned to launch in tandem with the PC 1.0 version. However, no specific date or window has been provided, and official sources have only stated that they “hope to share news soon.”
For now, the focus remains on the current PC playtest as the team works to push the game toward its full release.
