The Gyldenmist is calling. Skystone Games is bringing its dark fantasy action extraction RPG, Mistfall Hunter, to Xbox Series X|S and PC for an open beta test this June. It is the first time Xbox players will get hands-on time with the game ahead of its official July 29, 2026, launch.

What to Expect in the Hallowgrave Playtest
The upcoming test introduces a significant expansion to the Mistfall Hunter experience. Most notably, players can try out the Withered Knight, a new class that wields a greatsword. As former elite guards of the Pontiff, these units focus on a calculated combat rhythm, utilizing parry techniques and reach to anchor squads during dangerous extraction runs.
Players will also gain access to Hallowgrave, a vertical, bleached-forest map. This environment features distinct areas like the coastal highlands of Hastine’s Fall—where a giant’s corpse radiates divine energy—and the claustrophobic Witchery Woods. You will need to navigate these areas to find the Returner Woodling, which provides the Soul of Return required to extract safely with your loot.
Combat and System Overhauls
Skystone Games has implemented several adjustments based on the game's core mechanics. The stamina system has been completely redesigned to remove previous limitations, aiming for a more fluid and dynamic feel during skirmishes. Additionally, all five existing classes have received balance updates to ensure viability, and new high-tier legendary gear has been added to the loot pool.
Whether you choose to play as a lone wolf or in a three-player squad, the game emphasizes tactical weapon swapping mid-battle. With the addition of new enemies and Gem systems, the developers are looking to add further depth to the PvPvE loop where dying to either monsters or other players means losing everything you have gathered.
How to Access the Beta
Pre-downloads for the Mistfall Hunter open beta begin on June 13 at 8:00pm PT. You can find the client by searching for "Mistfall Hunter Open Beta" in the Xbox Store. While progress will be wiped following the test, players who participate can earn exclusive beta cosmetics that will be available on their accounts when the game launches on July 29, 2026, as a Day One Xbox Game Pass title.
