The Dark World in Deltarune Chapter 5 is hiding a major secret: a boss fight against a character named Pink. You will find her waiting in the Flower Castle, but reaching her—and surviving the encounter—requires a bit of preparation. Here is your step-by-step guide to taking down this secret boss.
How to get the Mystery Key
Before you can initiate the fight, you need to gain access to the Pink Door located at the top of the Flower Castle. The door is locked, and you will need a Mystery Key to open it.
To obtain the key, head to the shop in the Cliffs. You can reach this area quickly if you have already unlocked the fast-travel magic door. The shopkeeper will provide the key in exchange for 10 Pink Coins. While there are 19 of these coins hidden throughout the Dark World, you only need 10 to proceed, as there are no additional benefits to collecting more.
How to summon Pink
Once you have the key, head to the Pink Door in the Flower Castle. Entering the room triggers a cutscene involving Orange, Pink's sibling. Initially, the situation seems like it might be resolved peacefully, but a comment from Susie escalates the situation and officially kicks off the boss fight. Note that Orange does not participate in the actual battle.
How to defeat Pink
Defeating Pink is not a traditional fight. You cannot deal damage to her with standard attacks. Your goal is to fill the Doki Meter on the right side of the screen by engaging in 'dating' mechanics.
- Use Flirt: Access the Act menu for Kris and Susie to select 'Flirt.' As you progress, you will unlock more powerful moves like 'MegaFlirt,' which require more TP. Ralsei can be used to increase your max TP capacity to help sustain these moves.
- Gather TP: You gain TP by surviving Pink’s attacks. These involve box puzzles, onrushing cat-emoji trains, and explosions. Keep an eye out for pink hearts that appear during these sequences; move your heart with the LS button to collect them, as they provide the TP needed for your next turn.
- The Dating Phases: Once the Doki Meter is full, you will enter a dating phase where you must answer Pink’s questions. Choosing the correct responses is key to keeping her pleased.
The fight evolves over several rounds. In the second round, Pink’s body and ghost split, and they will prefer opposite answers, making your choices more difficult. By the third round, the requirement for the Doki Meter increases to 20, and you must avoid 'Die' words during the chaos to prevent your progress from resetting.
The final round is a test of endurance where the Doki Meter fills automatically. Once full, you will have one final conversation with Pink’s ghost. If you choose the correct responses, you will help her accept the situation, ending the battle. As a reward for your efforts, you will receive a Shadow Crystal and a special, hidden item.
