In a move that marks a significant change for the title, Capcom has announced it is removing all Dragon's Dogma 2 microtransactions from sale. The publisher confirmed that as of June 25, 2026, the game's premium currency, Rift Crystals, will be pulled from the PS Store alongside all associated real-money items, including Gaol Keys, Portcrystals, and Wakestones.
This shift arrives as the studio prepares for the launch of the Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen expansion, which is slated for release on October 9, 2026. According to Capcom, the removal of these items is tied to the development of additional content and future game adjustments. The publisher hinted that these previously paid items might become more easily accessible in-game, noting that a recent patch already introduced an Eternal Ferrystone for fast travel.
Changes to Game Editions and Pricing
The cleanup of the game's storefront goes beyond individual items. The Deluxe Edition of the PS5 title is being removed from the digital shop entirely. Once the changes take effect on June 25, only the base version of the game—along with a music pack and a camping kit—will remain available for purchase. Furthermore, Capcom has confirmed that the base game will receive a permanent price reduction on that same date, though the specific new price point has yet to be revealed.
The move comes over two years after the game's initial 2024 launch, during which the surprise inclusion of microtransactions sparked significant controversy and a "mostly negative" user rating on PC. At the time, Capcom issued an apology for the inconvenience caused to players.
What to Expect in Dark Arisen
Looking ahead, the Dark Arisen expansion will be available as a separate DLC or as part of a new bundle. The content update is set to introduce a snowy northern area known as the Norgan region, alongside 12 new dungeon challenges located throughout the existing world. Players can also expect new aesthetic options for their Arisen and Pawns, specifically new tattoo and hairstyle selections.
"Thank you to everyone for your support," the publisher stated on social media. "We hope you bring the same passion to Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, as you did to Dragon's Dogma 2."
