Stardew Valley and Fallout 4 Join Discord Nitro Xbox Game Pass in 2026

Stardew Valley and Fallout 4 are now part of the new Discord Nitro Xbox Game Pass starter edition, a benefit launched as part of a refreshed partnership between Microsoft and Discord in May 2026. This initiative allows active Discord Nitro subscribers to access a curated library of over 50 titles on both PC and console platforms, alongside 10 hours of cloud gaming functionality.

New Discord Nitro Xbox Game Pass Benefits Explained 2026

The collaboration between the two companies, announced on May 11, 2026, aims to integrate subscription services more tightly to provide value to users. Discord product manager Lu Zhang confirmed that the starter edition is being rolled out to members over the coming weeks. For users currently paying $9.99 per month for a premium Discord Nitro subscription, this addition provides access to a selection of titles that were previously only available through standalone Xbox Game Pass tiers.

The library currently features notable titles including the post-apocalyptic role-playing game Fallout 4, developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks, and the farming simulation game Stardew Valley, developed and published by ConcernedApe. Other games confirmed for this tier include DayZ, Deep Rock Galactic, Overcooked 2, and Grounded. According to official communications from Microsoft, this list is expected to expand over time.

What is included in the new Discord Nitro Xbox Game Pass starter edition

The starter edition functions as a base-level access point for the Xbox ecosystem. Beyond the library of 50-plus games, the primary features include:

• Unlimited access to the rotating library of 50+ PC and console games while the subscription is active.
• 10 hours of cloud gaming, allowing users to stream titles without needing a high-end local machine.
• Future integration with the Discord Shop, as Microsoft plans to provide existing Game Pass subscribers with a monthly allowance of 250 Discord Orbs for digital rewards.

As we reported here at In Game News this move aligns with Microsoft's recent efforts to restructure its subscription pricing. Following an internal memo from Xbox CEO Asha Sharma regarding the necessity of a more flexible system, the company has taken steps to lower the cost of its primary tiers. The integration with Discord serves as a bridge for users who are already active within the messaging platform's ecosystem.

Strategic Realignment of Xbox Subscription Services

The decision to bundle Game Pass benefits with Discord Nitro follows a period of price adjustments for the Xbox service. In 2025, the cost of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate reached $30 per month, a price point that prompted internal discussions about the accessibility of the service. By April 2026, Microsoft moved to lower the price of Ultimate to $22.99 and reduced the monthly cost of PC Game Pass to $13.99.

This partnership reflects a shift toward meeting players where they are already active. By leveraging Discord's social infrastructure, Microsoft is attempting to increase the reach of its library. For those who have been on the fence about upgrading to a Nitro subscription, the inclusion of these gaming benefits serves as a central value proposition for the 2026 fiscal year.

Fallout 4: A Legacy Title in the New Tier

Fallout 4, originally released on March 22, 2016, remains a staple of the Xbox library. With a Metacritic score of 70, the title continues to see engagement across PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Its inclusion in the Discord Nitro starter edition allows players to access the base game and the Automatron expansion content, which was part of the original release cycle. The game's presence in this new tier highlights the continued relevance of established RPGs within the subscription model.

Implementation and Rollout Timeline

The rollout of these benefits is not instantaneous for every user. Microsoft and Discord have indicated that the features will be distributed to members incrementally throughout the month of May 2026. If a user does not see the option to claim their Game Pass starter edition immediately, they are advised to wait for the update to propagate through their account settings.

Existing Xbox Game Pass subscribers are also slated to receive reciprocal benefits. Later in May 2026, those with an active Game Pass membership will begin receiving a monthly allowance of 250 Discord Orbs. These can be redeemed within the Discord Shop for various digital items. This two-way street of benefits is designed to encourage cross-platform engagement between the two services.

The initiative is part of a broader push by Microsoft to address concerns regarding the cost and flexibility of its service. By creating a lower-cost entry point through Discord, the company hopes to capture a demographic that may have found the previous $30 Ultimate tier prohibitive. The focus remains on social connectivity, with Microsoft stating that the partnership is a core component of their strategy to make gaming more social.
