The Anniversary Blowout: Ver 1.041 Breakdown

Capcom is hitting the one-year milestone for Monster Hunter Wilds with a massive content drop on February 18. This isn't just a celebratory pat on the back; it’s a significant expansion of the endgame meta. Between the return of classic seasonal festivals and the introduction of 10-star Arch-tempered hunts, veterans who have been coasting on their current builds are about to face a serious reality check.

The "Festival of Accord" brings back four major seasonal events on a weekly rotation through March 19. If you missed the original runs of Blossomdance or Flamefete, this is your chance to snag that missed equipment. We’re also seeing a nice QoL gift here: a free special item pack and the highly coveted Character and Palico Edit Vouchers. For those of us who realized fifty hours in that our hunter's chin looks slightly off in cutscenes, this is the fix we've been waiting for.

Arch-Tempered Arkveld and the 10-Star Meta

The real meat of this update is the arrival of Arch-tempered (AT) Arkveld. Available as a permanent Event Quest, this 10-star encounter is designed to push the current power creep to its limit. But Arkveld isn't coming alone. Capcom is also upgrading the four apex predators—Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, and Jin Dahaad—into ★10 Arch-tempered versions.

Our take? The real grind begins after you clear these individual hunts. Beating all ★10 AT quests unlocks the "Arch-tempered monsters Hunt-a-thon." This is a high-difficulty Free Challenge Quest that will likely be the ultimate test for min-maxed sets. As Joseph Bustos, Capcom USA’s Community Manager, put it: these quests offer a challenge "sure to test the skills of even the most seasoned hunters." Make sure your elemental resistances are capped before February 18.

Community Designs and the Stories 3 Crossover

Last year’s "Original Weapon and Pendant Design Contest" finally bears fruit in Ver 1.041. The winning community designs will be earnable through the "Every Hunter’s Dream" quest. These community-designed items historically tend to be some of the most unique-looking pieces in the game, so don't sleep on this quest.

Additionally, we’re seeing a cross-promotion with Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. This includes side missions focused on—you guessed it—egg transport. While egg runs can be a polarizing "love it or hate it" staple of the franchise, the reward is a "Royal Palico Rudy Costume α" and Monstie-themed pendants. If you want your Palico looking like a regal Monstie rider, you're going to have to dodge some monsters while carrying heavy eggs back to camp.

The Road to March: Final Challenge Quests

While the bulk of the event quests will become permanent additions to the board, Capcom is keeping one final carrot on a stick for the end of the month. The final Free Challenge Quest for Arch-tempered Arkveld will run from March 19 to March 31. We expect this to be the "final boss" encounter of the anniversary window, potentially offering the best materials for the new Gala Suit α and Felyne Star α armor sets.

This update confirms that Capcom is committed to the long-tail support of Wilds. With the return of AT monsters and the injection of community-led content, the hunt is far from over.
